What To Expect
Visitors are expected at New Heights! You probably have lots of questions about what to expect when you visit. Here are some answers:
When are New Heights worship services?
New Heights worship services take place at 9:00 am and 10:30 am Sunday mornings.
What should I do when I arrive?
When you arrive, you will be greeted at the front door as you enter the church lobby. Worship services take place in the auditorium, which can be found through the doors to the right at the rear of the church lobby. As you enter the auditorium, you will be greeted again, and given a bulletin containing information about the morning’s service, as well as church news, announcements, and events. Once you enter the auditorium, feel free to sit anywhere you are comfortable.
Are child care/children’s ministries available during worship services?
During the 10:30 am Sunday morning service, the nursery (birth to 2 years old) toddler care (2 – 5 years old) children’s ministries are available.
Once you arrive at New Heights, if you would like for your children to participate in the children’s ministry, go to the information table in the church lobby, where someone can assist you. For nursery and toddler-aged children, your child will be given a name tag, and you will be given a corresponding claim card. This card is for your child’s safety, and will ensure that only you can pick up the child.
As you enter through the front doors, the nursery can be found down the hallway to your immediate right and the toddler room can be found on your immediate left. Grade school classes can be found in the hallway to the left at the rear of the church lobby.
What should I wear?
Come dressed as you are. While most people dress casually, you will likely encounter people wearing anything ranging from suits and ties to blue jeans and t-shirts, so wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
What is a worship service like?
New Heights worship services usually last about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Services begin with worship music and a brief moment to greet those around you, followed by a sermon of approximately 20-30 minutes. The service concludes with a time for prayer, communion, offering, announcements, and a closing prayer and song.
What is your style of worship music?
The overall worship experience on Sunday mornings aims to be a blended service of hymns, choruses, and modern worship songs. Sometimes the hymns will be traditional style, sometimes they may have different music; but we aim to keep the singing part the original so that it will not be a distraction as we enjoy it together. And the 5th Sunday of the month is Bluegrass Sunday – Western Dress is encouraged! (But it’s still okay just to come as you are.)
The worship leader may invite you to stand, or clap your hands; however, feel free to sit, stand, raise your hands – worship however you are comfortable.
What is expected of me as a visitor?
Just come and enjoy yourself! While there will be a brief moment near the beginning of the service to greet those around you, and several people may greet you before and after the service, you will not be singled out as a visitor. All we ask is that you let us know you joined with us for our worship service, by filling out the attendance card in your bulletin. Give as much or as little information as you feel comfortable doing.
Don’t worry, though; unless you specifically request it, no one from New Heights will call, visit, or otherwise contact you. We just want to know that you were with us for worship!
What about communion?
Everyone who has confessed faith in Jesus Christ and who has been baptized for the remission of sins is welcome to partake in communion at New Heights. If you are visiting New Heights and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, please join in communion with us!
Generally, following a communion meditation and prayer, the elements are passed out, to be partaken by each person individually. Though sometimes, the communion time varies. Don’t worry, though. If something is changed up, the person giving the communion meditation will let you know what to do.
What about the offering?
Offering is for members of New Heights Christian Church only. As a visitor, we neither want nor expect you to give anything during the offering. Just drop your attendance card in the offering plate as it is passed, so we know you were here.
